2003-2004 Season |
The UT Performing Arts Center has
just announced its 2003-2004 season with "Performances that Set the
Heart on Fire." Featuring many familiar performerss, the season includes
Tony Bennett, Philip Glass, Gladys Knight, Kronos Quartet, Lincoln Center
Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Itzhak Perlman,
Ballet Folklorico and more. More popular artists, more choices, lower prices,

Help out the Humane
Society / SPCA of Austin and Travis County

KGSR encourages you to pick up an extra bag of pet food the next time
you go grocery shopping - and donate it to the Humane Society / SPCA.
This is Austin's only no-kill shelter and they depend on donations to
keep running! They can always use dog and cat food, bedding, toys and
monetary donations. For more information check out their website

Another way to help out is by making a donation to the Humane Society's
Chelsea Fund. The public can help by sending in a donation to Chelsea's
Fund, the fund designated to help dogs and cats in need of urgent medical
help.

Handbill, offering almost daily information about animals at Town Lake Animal
Center available for adoption whose time is running out.

Downtown Austin Farmers'
Market

KGSR is pleased to sponsor the new Downtown
Austin Farmers' Market, a project of the Sustainable Food Center.
The market takes place Saturdays from 8 am till noon at Republic Square
Park (4th and Guadalupe streets and the adjacent block,) with dozens of
farmers from within the local region. Farms and nurseries will be at the
market weekly with local produce and plants, as well as bakers, vendors
of jellies, salsas and pickled products, craft and beauty product vendors
and ready-to-eat vendors. There will also be occasional children's activities,
cooking demonstrations and live music!

Green Festival is taking place at the Austin Convention Center October
11 and 12. The Green Festival brings together green enterprises, environmental
groups, leading thinkers on the green economy, and thousands of attendees
for a two-day party with a very serious objective: strenghtening the locally
controlled, green economy and expanding popular support for policies aimed
at sustainability and social justice. National and local speakers, workshop
presenters, exhibitors and "Kitchen Table" community action
networking hosts are being finalized. The event is being co-produced by
Co-Op America
and Global Exchange,
and is sponsored, in part, by 107.1 KGSR.
The 2 day event includes hundreds of exhibit booths including Austin
Habitat for Humanity RE-store and Howdy Honda - featuring the Honda
Civic Hybrid vehicle.

latest CD - "Girls Get In Free." Join them at Playland Skate
Center from 5 to 9 pm. Girls Get In Free, is a rock and rollerskating
CD release party to benefit Genaustin. It's a celebration of girls with
guts from the roller rink to stage. Come see the Texas Rollergirls in
a knock-down bout then skate free as the k-tel hit machine performs live.
Trish Murphy takes the stage at 8. There is a request for a $5 donation
at the door and girls under 18 get in free! This event is p-13
